By answering a few simple questions, you will be able to see if you or someone else may be eligible for public work support programs. We will NOT ask you for information that identifies you. It's easy, confidential and free! Start NOTE: This screening tool does not determine eligibility. It is only a guideline. After using this screening tool, you must apply to each program to be sure your are eligible. News Free Dental Care for Kids Give Kids a Smile -- Appointments still available Give Kids a Smile , a free dental event brought to you by the Minnesota Dental Association and the Minnesota Dental Foundation, will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 7 and 8, 2020. During these two days, dental clinics across the state will offer free dental appointments for kids (typically ages 3-18) who face barriers to accessing dental care. There are no eligibility requirements to participate. Many counties in MInnesota have free dental appointments available through the Give Kids a Smile event. To find a dental clinic near you and to find out how to schedule an appointment, follow this link to the Minnesota Dental Association website or call United Way 2-1-1. Oral health is one of the most significant concerns among low-income families who are not able to access regular dental care. Make an appointment, today. Transit Assistance Program Offers $1 Fares The Transit Assistance Program (TAP) is designed to make public transit through Metro Transit more affordable for low-income residents who are accessing one or more of many of the programs included on Bridge to Benefits. Once enrolled, you (and approved family members) will have access to $1.00 fares for a year. Learn more: https://www.metrotransit.org/tap-riders Information on Proposed Public Charge Changes A federal court has issed a preliminary injunction against the Trump Adminstration's proposed changes to the definition of public charge, which was slated to take effect on October 15, 2019. The public charge rule is the test applied to certain immigrants seeking to enter the country or to be granted lawful permanent residency to determine if they are likely to be reliant on government assistance. The current public charge rule that will remain in effect until additional court action only includes cash assistance and certain long-term care programs. NONE of the programs included on Bridge to Benefits are included in the definition of public charge at this time so all families should continue to access the programs on Bridge to Benefits for which they're eligible.
